Along the path by the burn leading up towards the house, bright red Acer micranthum on the left and two small fastigiate yews in the distance, flanking a boulder that makes a pleasant seat. The bank below the house once held heathers, but it has since been planted with hebes, senecios, phlomis, euphorbia and other plants that enjoy the dry conditions
